Dr. R Sagaya Jansi is an Assistant Professor in the PG Department of Bioinformatics at Stella Maris College, India, where she has served as Head of the Department since November 2019 and currently coordinates the IQAC. She earned her Ph.D. in Biotechnology (Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology) and an M.Phil. in Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology from Loyola College, Chennai, India, along with an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from Loyola College and a B.Sc. in Advanced Zoology and Biotechnology from Stella Maris College. She has also cleared CSIR-NET (Life Sciences, 2018), SET (Life Sciences, 2012) and GATE (2011). Dr. Jansi’s research focuses primarily on plant biotechnology and the integration of bioinformatics in molecular modeling, computer-aided drug design, genomics, and proteomics, with emerging work bridging computational approaches and molecular biology to address challenges in biomedical and plant sciences. She has extensive teaching and research experience, having served as Assistant Professor at Loyola College, Research Assistant at the Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility (DBT, Madras Christian College), and educator at Our Lady’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School, handling subjects including molecular biology, clinical research management, bioinformatics, programming in C++, and biophysics. Her key contributions include docking studies of bioflavonoids targeting anti-apoptotic pathways, development of bioinformatics infrastructure, and designing interdisciplinary educational programs that integrate biotechnology and computational biology.
