Mrs. Sreekutti S | Forensic Sciences | Women Researcher Award
Ph.D. Student | National Forensic Sciences University | India
Mrs. Sreekutti S is an emerging researcher in the field of Forensic Science, currently pursuing her Ph.D. at the National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar. Her research primarily focuses on forensic metagenomics, an evolving interdisciplinary domain integrating microbiology, molecular biology, and forensic analysis. Her publication in the Journal of Microbiological Methods (Elsevier), titled “Forensic Application of Metagenomics: Methods and Future Directions,” highlights her contribution to advancing microbial DNA-based approaches for forensic identification and crime scene analysis. In addition to her journal publication, she has authored the book “A Comparative Study of Criminal Victimization & Its Preventive Measures” (ISBN: 978-93-88398-65-7), which explores socio-legal perspectives in crime prevention and victimology. Her recent projects emphasize low-cost forensic innovations, such as developing economical ash powder-based techniques for latent fingerprint detection, which earned her the 2nd Prize for Best Research Paper Award at Shodh Shikhar International Research & Innovation Conference 2024. She also secured the 2nd Prize for Poster Presentation at the International Conference on Trends in Forensics, Law and Criminology (WBNUJS, Kolkata) for her review on nuclear techniques in forensic science. Her ongoing doctoral research aims to enhance forensic trace evidence analysis through next-generation sequencing and microbial community profiling. Mrs. Sreekutti S’s academic excellence, reflected in her UGC NET JRF qualification and Gold Medal in M.Sc. Forensic Science, is complemented by her active engagement in research dissemination through conferences, publications, and academic collaborations. Her scientific contributions bridge innovation and applicability, focusing on evidence authenticity, microbial forensics, and sustainable forensic methodologies. Recognized as an Emerging Educator (2024), she continues to shape the evolving landscape of forensic research through her commitment to interdisciplinary innovation and societal impact.
